Free Dance Movement

Dancing freely is the key to my wellbeing.

Iโ€™m not a dancer.

But I am a juggler, and dancing is the ultimate juggling experience. It requires no extra equipment and no prepโ€“just a little bit of space, and (ideally) some music. I can roll with that.

Dancing makes me feel free in my body.

It makes me feel connected.

And itโ€™s so much fun.

Thereโ€™s nothing quite like a 3-minute dancing break to get unstuck from a problem Iโ€™m facing at work. I purposefully make it โ€tinyโ€ (just one song) to reduce the resistance of starting. And I put zero pressure on making it pretty. I move as my body feels like. Sometimes it looks as a low-budget kung-fu movie. Sometimes it looks like Iโ€™m having a seizure. And sometimes it looks like a weird crossover of Butoh dancing with traditional Polish folk dancing. I donโ€™t care.

The thing is: the second I start to dance the โ€œdotsโ€ connect in my head, and the problem Iโ€™m facing solves itself. All I need to do is move my body.

Dance Challenges

โ€‹๐ŸŽฅ 30-Day Dance Challenge with Silvia: we danced together every day for 30 days to see how it would impact our relationship. Spoiler alert: it was brilliant.

๐ŸŽง Dancing Playlist on Spotify: dancing to one song every day as a part of #playful movement focus area in 2020.
